Jose N. Vasquez is a native of the South Bronx born to Puerto Rican immigrants in the 1970's. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1992 to 2007, where he developed an interest in visual culture while training overseas. Jose is currently pursuing a PhD in Anthropology at City University of New York. His research focuses on medical, urban, and U.S. military topics.

Jose’s love of photography arises from his passion for creating perspective. As an anthropologist, his work is animated by a fascination with understanding people’s culture – the food, religious traditions, customs, beliefs and art. Photography allows Jose to engage and imagine the world through a different lens and to capture the quickly fleeting stories of our hectic life. Jose’s photography brings to life a unique perspective that weaves together our human experience with our everyday response to the world around us.
